I turn messy spreadsheets into dashboards that report themselves.
Prashant Saxena — BI & reporting automation specialist. 6+ years building dashboards, automating manual reporting, and cutting the time teams spend chasing numbers.
Operations background, BI toolset, automation mindset.
I've spent the last 6+ years inside operations and quality teams at
HCL Tech and GlobalLogic — first as a Team Lead running MIS and
quality assurance for a 20-person team, then as an Associate Manager
building the BI layer that let leadership see what was actually
happening without asking.
My focus is simple: if a report takes a human more
than a few minutes to assemble by hand, it should probably build
itself. I use Power BI, Google Looker Studio, Tableau, SQL, and
Google Apps Script to get there — and an MBA (Deakin University) to
make sure the dashboard answers the question a business actually
has, not just the one that's easy to chart.
- Based in Delhi, India — open to remote
- Core tools Power BI · Looker Studio · Tableau · SQL · Apps Script
- Education MBA, Deakin University
- Availability Freelance / contract, fast turnaround
Case studies from the job — plus a couple built just to show the process.
BI-driven reporting overhaul
Reporting was manual, spreadsheet-based, and often days behind — leadership was making decisions on stale numbers. I rebuilt the pipeline into SQL-powered dashboards with automated refresh, cutting reporting delays in half and pushing accuracy to 99%.
- Approach: mapped where the manual bottlenecks actually were, rewrote the core reporting logic in SQL, layered Power BI on top, automated the refresh so no one had to touch it.
- Result: 50% faster reporting turnaround, 99% data accuracy, no more manual reconciliation.
Outcome metric only, from my own performance record. No client name, client data, or proprietary system is shown or represented — chart above is illustrative.
Quality & defect-tracking dashboard
Defects were being caught late and traced by hand, with no consistent view of where they were coming from. I built a real-time defect-tracking dashboard and applied Six Sigma DMAIC to find and fix root causes, with automated anomaly flags for the QA team.
- Approach: defined the defect categories that mattered, measured baseline rates, ran root-cause analysis (RCA) on the biggest contributors, automated flagging so issues surfaced before they compounded.
- Result: 40% reduction in defect rate, faster detection, less manual audit work for the QA team.
Outcome metric only, from my own performance record. No client name, client data, or proprietary system is shown or represented — chart above is illustrative.
Retail revenue dashboard — Looker Studio
Built and published a live Looker Studio dashboard on the same retail dataset — KPI cards, a revenue-by-region trend line, and a drill-down that surfaces the same 48% South-region drop found in the SQL analysis.
Automated expense-reporting bot
A working Google Sheet + Apps Script build: expense entries dropped into a shared sheet get auto-categorized, summarized, and emailed as a weekly report — zero manual formatting.
SQL sales & churn analysis
Analyzed a 5-region retail dataset in SQL and found one region's revenue had quietly dropped 48% over four months — then fixed the slow lookup query behind the reporting view using indexing.
National sales — forecast & territory map
Two years of order data across 18 cities, built to use Tableau's forecasting and geographic mapping specifically — not a repeat of the Looker layout. Revenue grew a verified 77% over the period, with clear regional variation.
Departmental budget vs. actual
Two-year budget dataset across 4 departments, showing Operations running 11.3% over budget while every other team stayed under. Built around DAX time-intelligence and a What-if scenario slider.
Disclaimer : All dashboards and datasets built on dummy publicly available datasets and metric only. No client name, client data, or proprietary system is shown or represented — Any presence of names, organizations in datasets or charts is purely coincidental.
The reporting-overhaul project, rebuilt and runnable.
A synthetic recreation of the actual project above: 534 report-generation logs, 12 months manual vs. 12 months automated. Query it yourself below — the numbers match the case study almost exactly, because they're computed live from this data, not typed in.
The defect-tracking & RCA project, rebuilt and interactive.
A synthetic recreation of the actual project above, using the same Six Sigma DMAIC approach: identify the biggest defect contributors with a Pareto chart, fix the top ones, track the result on a control chart. Hover any bar or point for exact numbers.
Run the actual SQL project, live, in your browser.
Runs entirely in your browser via SQLite compiled to WebAssembly (sql.js) — nothing is sent to a server. Pick a preset above or edit the query and run your own SELECT against the same 5-table schema (regions, customers, products, orders, order_items).
